For the members and churches of HMU

Build something the next generation can inherit.

Storehouse is a long-term financial foundation for HMU. We preserve capital, put it to work, and build resources that can support our churches, communities, and future projects for generations.

Why Storehouse exists

We should not have to start over every time.

Historically, our community raised money for a need, spent it, and raised money again for the next one. The work was worthwhile, but the capital rarely remained to help with what came afterward.

A different approach proved possible. Community members entrusted money to a small team, the team invested it, and principal and profits were returned. Repeating that cycle helped fund the Fellowship Hall with cash.

Storehouse carries that practice forward: preserve a base of capital, invest it responsibly, and let what it earns strengthen the work over time.

Live off the harvest, not the seed corn.

The endowment

Preserve the principal. Live off the harvest.

An endowment is capital set aside for the long term. Instead of spending down the principal, it is invested so that its earnings can support the mission year after year.

Preserve
Keep a durable base of capital rather than spending every dollar raised.
Invest
Put that capital to work carefully, with accountability, diversification, and a long horizon.
Support
Use what it earns to strengthen churches, communities, and Kingdom projects while leaving the principal in place.
“Let Pharaoh appoint officers over the land, and take up the fifth part of the land of Egypt in the seven plenteous years.”
Genesis 41:34

What Storehouse is meant to become

Today, Storehouse is building the capital and operating capacity to serve HMU well. Over time, that same foundation can support more of the financial life of the community.

  • Lending and investing that keep resources among our own people
  • Self-directed retirement options and other long-horizon savings vehicles
  • Later: banking, insurance, and planning services designed for HMU

Start with the foundation

Those later services are goals, not present offerings. The work in front of us is to preserve capital, invest it carefully, and prove we can steward it over years.

The vision

A lasting financial foundation for HMU.

Storehouse exists to preserve and grow resources that can support Kingdom projects, emerging communities, and opportunities for generations to come.

The Joseph pattern

Store in the years of plenty.

The goal is not accumulation for its own sake. It is readiness: the ability to meet needs, support emerging communities, and undertake substantial projects without beginning every effort at zero.

The endowment gives that goal a practical structure. Preserve the principal, invest it responsibly, and use what it earns while leaving the underlying capital in place for those who come after us.

What one generation plants, the next one harvests.

Stewardship

Who stewards Storehouse

Storehouse is overseen by the Storehouse Stewardship Group, under the oversight of Heritage Ministries United. Names, photos, and full bios are placeholders for now.

How it is organized

Clear roles, mutual accountability

Long-term capital needs defined authority, practical expertise, and oversight from the community it is meant to serve.

HMU oversight

Storehouse organizations operate in relationship with Heritage Ministries United and within its culture of mutual accountability.

Stewardship Group

The Stewardship Group is responsible for day-to-day management, allocation decisions, monitoring, and shared support across Storehouse organizations.

Separate entity governance

Each entity keeps its own legal structure, finances, eligibility rules, and offering documents. Shared vision does not mean shared books.

How capital is handled

Specialized teams, central review

Small investment teams work in areas they understand and bring specific opportunities for review. The Stewardship Group weighs those petitions, allocates capital or declines, monitors performance, and provides shared administrative support.

That structure is slower than one person acting alone. It is meant to be. Endowment capital requires careful handling and clear lines of responsibility.
